Best video format for email attachments
MP4 with common codecs is usually the safest choice for email attachments.
Recommended format
For ordinary email attachments, MP4 is usually the most practical video format because many phones, laptops, browsers, and webmail previews can handle it. H.264 video with AAC audio is a common compatibility target.
When email is the wrong delivery method
If a video is long or must stay high quality, an attachment may not be ideal. Use a link or shared drive when the recipient needs the original resolution, multiple versions, or a file too large for the mailbox.
Practical preparation
Convert MOV to MP4 if the recipient is not in an Apple workflow, resize very large videos, and use a target-size compressor if the service rejects attachments above its limit.
